What equipment is included in the Desktop Studio?
The base Desktop Studio includes a fixed camera, lens, teleprompter, overhead microphone, key light, background lighting, and mounting system. Everything is built into the desk-mounted frame and connects to your computer like a webcam and microphone.
Why is there no full spec and price list for the equipment?
Listing specs increases cognitive load and leads people down a comparison rabbit hole. The focus is on a video system that works reliably, not individual components. The outcome matters more than the itemised parts.

Two questionsDo I need 4K to get professional-quality video?
No. 4K is about resolution, not quality. It simply means more pixels, which also means bigger file sizes, slower uploads, heavier editing, and more friction in your video workflow. For most business use cases like LinkedIn, sales videos, webinars, and website content, 1080p HD is more than enough. In many cases, even 720p does the job perfectly well. What actually makes a video feel professional is lighting, sound, framing, and delivery. The right combination of equipment beats 4K every time.
Is the Desktop Studio built from cheap or generic components?
No. The Desktop Studio equipment is professional-grade and used in real video production environments. It’s been tested and refined across hundreds of installs to prioritise reliability, simplicity, and consistency.
Getting the lighting right

Is background and ceiling lighting included with the Desktop Studio?
Yes. Both the main key light / glamor light and the additional background and hair lighting are included as part of the Desktop Studio.
How do I stop my videos from looking washed out?
The issue isn’t the camera. It’s uncontrolled lighting. Mixed house lights and natural light create inconsistent results. Controlled lighting removes those variables so you can record at any time of day with the same look.
Why does natural light cause problems on camera?
Natural light changes throughout the day and creates inconsistency. Blocking or controlling it allows the studio lighting to shape the scene properly.
Do I need to control natural light to look professional?
Yes. Natural light is unpredictable and changes throughout the day. Controlling light ensures consistency and avoids situations where you simply can’t record because conditions aren’t right.
The podcast microphone setup

Which podcast microphone comes with the PodcasterPro?
A broadcast-grade dynamic microphone equivalent to the industry-standard model commonly used in professional podcasting.
What does the PodcasterPro actually include?
It includes a podcast-grade microphone, a mixer, and a professional boom arm. positioned just out of frame, and easy to move in or out when needed.
Do I need to wear headphones when using the PodcasterPro?
The studio setup is designed so you don’t need headphones. Audio is managed through the mixer and remains fully synchronised with video. When recording interviews, it’s best practice to isolate sound from your speakers using headphones to maintain the integrity of the recording.
Can I switch between the video mic and the podcast mic?
Yes. A simple switch on the mixer turns off the overhead microphone and activates the podcast microphone. Everything continues running through the camera, so audio and video stay perfectly in sync so you can move from video recording to podcast mode without re-wiring or re-configuring.

Two questionsIf I already own a podcast microphone, do I still need the PodcasterPro setup?
The recommendation is to use the full PodcasterPro system. It’s fully integrated with the camera and switcher, stays perfectly in sync, and is designed for simplicity. Mixing third-party audio gear often causes sync and reliability issues. It provides higher audio quality and little need to reduce room echo. It’s not essential for basic calls, but it significantly improves consistency and sound quality for recorded content.
Do I need an additional podcast microphone?
No. If you’re not running co-hosts or guests in the room, the additional mic isn’t required.
What the teleprompter does

What does a 3-in-1 teleprompter do?
The teleprompter functions in three ways. First, it displays scripted text directly over the camera lens for perfect eye contact. Second, it can act as an extended monitor to display live calls or other applications. Third, it can be used as a confidence monitor so you can see yourself framed correctly while recording unscripted or short-form content.
Do I need to add a teleprompter to the Desktop Studio?
No. A teleprompter is already built into the Premium Desktop Studio. The add-on is only for a second camera setup.
If something stops working
Six questionsWhat happens if something breaks after installation?
If it’s a clear hardware fault, the component is replaced immediately. If it’s unclear, troubleshooting is done first to confirm whether it’s a system issue or a computer or user issue. Most issues are related to the computer or user settings rather than the system.
Will faulty equipment stop me from recording?
In most cases, no. If a critical component fails, it is replaced as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to your workflow.
What warranty covers faulty equipment?
The Desktop Studio comes with a one-year warranty. If an issue occurs, it will almost always be a single component rather than the full system.
What happens if something breaks after the first year?
After year one, the system remains fully serviceable. If a component needs replacing, we’ll organise the part and have it sent out. Because the system is modular, individual components can be replaced without rebuilding the entire setup.
What is the expected lifespan of the Desktop Studio?
The system is expected to last approximately 10 to 15 years. Individual components may be upgraded over time, but overall video quality remains consistent. The system includes a one-year warranty, with components replaceable if needed.
What happens when a component is discontinued?
Research, testing, and upgrades are handled internally. When components evolve, changes are managed without clients needing to deal with it.
