Using the studio as your Zoom camera

Can I use the Desktop Studio as my Zoom camera for webinars?
Yes. The Desktop Studio connects to Zoom just like a webcam and microphone. From Zoom’s perspective, it’s a standard input, so there’s no disruption to existing workflows.
Does the Desktop Studio work with Zoom Events as well as Zoom meetings?
Yes. The Desktop Studio still feeds into Zoom Events the same way. Zoom receives the video signal as a webcam input.
Recording better quality than Zoom gives you
Four questionsDoes the Desktop Studio fix low-quality Zoom Events recordings?
Yes. While Zoom recordings are limited by Zoom’s own compression, the Desktop Studio records a high-quality local version at the same time. This provides a clean master recording regardless of Zoom’s limitations.
Do you have options rather than recording directly in Zoom?
Yes. Recordings are captured as separate high-quality video files rather than compressed, baked-in Zoom recordings. This allows higher quality output and more flexibility for editing.
Do I need to leave Zoom or Teams to get better quality?
For higher end broadcast style recordings for interviews or podcasts, we recommend Riverside.FM. It’s not commonly known for its video conferencing, it provides individual quality cloud based recordings of each participant.
How do I record in high quality and still use Zoom?
The Desktop Studio can record locally using a high-resolution switcher recorder while Zoom continues to handle the live session recording of meeting participants. Each is treated as a separate recording to be edited together after the session.
Remote guests in the final cut
Two questionsDoes Zoom still record guests and audience members?
Yes. You can record external guests and audience participants within Zoom as normal. The local recording focuses on the in-studio camera and presentation.
Will remote guest speakers appear in the finished video?
Yes. External speakers are captured via Zoom and combined with the high-quality local recordings during editing.
Controlling what the audience sees
Three questionsCan I put Zoom participants on separate switcher inputs?
No. Participants are managed inside Zoom, not as physical inputs on the switcher.
Can I control what the webinar audience sees?
Yes. The switcher controls what’s sent from the studio to Zoom. From there the Zoom audience controls what they want to see.
Can I control what shows up in Zoom’s own recording?
Yes. Assigning a dedicated host to manage pinning during the session can influence what appears in the recording. This needs to be tested and standardised. Zoom recordings are baked into Zoom’s own logic and don’t always reflect live pinning behaviour. That’s a Zoom limitation rather than a studio issue.

A proposal walkthrough video is a 5–10 minute video that summarises the discussion, explains the system, clarifies pricing and upgrades, and visually demonstrates how the studio works. It’s sent with the written proposal and relevant other videos to support decision-making.
